My Cultivation Experience in Fa-rectification

Greetings! Respectable Master and fellow practitioners.
My name is Chow Siew Kam, 62 years old, obtained the Fa in 1996, can be considered as a veteran practitioner. Today, I would like to share a little of my cultivation experience in Fa-rectification for the past 17 years in Malaysia. My purpose is to encourage practitioners, at this stage of Fa-rectification, be more diligent in saving people, assimilate into the Fa and achieve consummation early.
From 4.25 Appeal to Self-Immolation incidents in China, local media had published lots of reports from China Xin Hua News that defamed Falun Gong and managed to implant into the Malaysian government and general public a negative impression on Falun Gong. This is especially so with the Chinese community who was very hostile against Falun Gong. Due to fear and a lack of understanding on the tactics used by China Communist Party to eliminate their political enemies, many practitioners just stopped practising and there was a conflict among those who stayed back and wondered whether to continue or to stop the practice. At that moment, practitioners practically had little knowledge on Cultivation in Fa-rectification. They only understood what is meant by individual cultivation and emphasized a lot on exercises. In the face of worsening environment, practitioners were frustrated but did not know what to do.
On 16th August, 2000, the Taiwanese practitioners held a two day experience sharing session for Asia Pacific practitioners in Singapore. We were told that Fa-rectification had started and during this period each practitioner should step forward to help Master in rectifying the Fa. We brought back few packets of brochures entitled “Peace Journey” and started the Fa-rectification chapter in Malaysia.
At the beginning, we distributed the brochures at our practice site, but only few people bothered to listen and accept. As the response was not good, I decided to go out to the public to do truth clarification. Starting from family members, relatives and friends, neighbors and colleagues; then to residential gardens, markets, villages, towns and moving on from one state to another, this Peace Journey has been going on for 17 years, but the end is now forthcoming.
At the beginning, we distributed flyers and VCDs to introduce the goodness of Falun Gong. Due to the lack of material, the first VCD distributed was Exercise video by Master. The environment was fearsome with “threat” hanging everywhere. At the start of each trip, we bound to meet people with hostile attitude and were scolded with accusations such as illegal, wanted by police, evil cult, involved in politics, Anti-China, American agent and later the self-immolation. However, human being is born with a kind heart, we have to be patient and polite. Having explained to them the truth on Falun Gong, their attitude would gradually change and would like to listen more about Falun Gong. Normally, I started telling them the 3 guiding principles “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance” that Falun Gong practitioners strive to follow in their lives to become good-hearted people, followed by upgrading the moral standards of a society to enjoying good health by practising the 5 sets of exercises. While explaining, I would hand over flyers and VCDs to them and wrap up by asking them to join us at the practice site. After few visits, most of them eventually understood the truth on Falun Gong and became friendly. When I toured around Malaysia recently to request for support on the petition against Jiang Zemin, many people responded positively and signed the petition. Some even wanted to give a small donation even though I have not been there for many years.
Generally, human being has a kind soul with wisdom to discern truth. As long as we have patience and compassion, we definitely can save most of the sentient beings. There was an incident during my early days in truth clarification. It was a Sunday morning. While I was distributing flyers at the Muar Tanjung beach, I came across a group of old folks chatting at the beach. They were very hostile and scolded me until I was dumb-founded. I stood there like a fool just listening to them. They also rejected my flyers very roughly. This encounter taught me a lesson: Dafa disciple is here to save people through truth clarification and is not here to listen to layman slandering Dafa with falsified accusations. Many years later, I went back to the same place to clarify the truth to them and give them Dafa materials. I managed to help them establish a predestination with Dafa.
As I started work on Fa-rectification, I could sense an upgrade in my Xinxing and gong potency during meditation. Some supernatural abilities were also emerging. I wanted to share this experience with fellow practitioners and kept encouraging them to step forward to do truth clarification and distribute flyers. I was asked to relate this to Master Teachings. I honestly didn’t know. Doing truth clarification and distributing flyers can upgrade Xinxing and gong potency? Some practitioners began to find me weird, blurting something not based on the Fa. I began to practise cultivation of speech in this respect and talk less. It was many years later that I enlightened to the principle behind this phenomenon.
It was mentioned in “Hong Yin”:
“Study the Fa and gain the Fa,
Focus on how you study and cultivate,
Let each and every thing
be measured against the Fa.
Only then, with that,
is it actually cultivation.”
And in “Zhuan Falun”:
“Cultivation depends on one’s own efforts, while the transformation of gong is done by one’s master”
During this period of Fa-rectification, only accomplishing according to Master’s wants is actual cultivation, and Master will transform your gong. It is just that simple.
In 2004, Falun Dafa Research Centre was registered as a legal organization. We finally have a legal platform to spread the Fa. I formed a small team to travel around Malaysia to spread the Fa. We ordered 40 thousand colorful balloons imprinted with wordings “Falun Dafa Is Good” or “Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance” in Chinese and National Language, to be given out to the public. This is to make these messages “Falun Dafa Is Good” and “Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance” flutter prominently in all corners in Malaysia with a hope to imprint these messages on the minds of as many Malaysians as possible. I believe people with these messages imprinted on their minds will remain when Fa rectifies the human world.
There were two incidents during this trip. It was late afternoon. Our team just finished distributing balloons to the people at Balik Pulau in Penang Island and planned to head for the beach to continue spreading the Fa and then take the coastal road back to our hotel in the city. One practitioner reminded that it was close to after-office hour and traffic along the coastal road would be congested. Hence we decided to skip spreading the Fa along the coastal road. It was another afternoon while we were distributing balloons at Kuala Kedah beach. Suddenly, a group of Malay children showed up, poorly clad, requesting for balloons. Happily, we gave them the balloons. One group went away and then another group came. We gave out almost a hundred balloons. They liked these colorful balloons which were imprinted with the Malay wordings “Falun Dafa Baik” or “Sejati Baik Sabar”. They stuck these balloons along the low sandy embankment as well as on their wooden huts located on the lower sandy land just next to the embankment. The rows of colorful balloons fluttered out a pleasant view against the poor beach.
Few days later, the 2004 century Tsunami was reported with a toll of few hundred thousand lives and mass destruction. We travelled to Penang and Kedah to witness the after-math of Tsunami. The north western coast of Penang Island was hit. Tens of people were killed and the destruction was serious. On the other hand, the Tsunami wave stopped about 50 meters away the sandy embankment without any damage to the wooden huts at the Kuala Kedah beach. This could be just a coincidence. But deep in our mind, we knew what had happened. Admittedly, we missed out something in Penang Island. We took it as a lesson learned.
Some time later, I went to Sabah and was given many copies of Epoch Times Special Edition of the “Nine Commentaries on Communist Party”. I started distributing them in Sabah and brought a copy back to Kuala Lumpur. We engaged a local printer to print 30 thousand copies of the Chinese version of “Nine Commentaries”. I formed a small team and in a gusto, we distributed over 10 thousand copies to few states in Peninsular Malaysia. I received both positive and negative feedback. A pastor who stayed near to my house and was very hostile against Dafa changed completely his attitude towards Dafa. He told me the “Nine Commentaries” is a piece of work that may go beyond this century. Unfortunately, the Malaysian Home Affairs Ministry banned the import of Epoch Times from overseas. This in turn stopped the circulation of Epoch Times in Malaysia, thus causing an internal conflict. I looked inwards and realized my shortcomings. I was not a person responsible for Epoch Times and I should not distribute “Nine Commentaries” in big volume without getting prior permission and worse still promoting Epoch Times along the way. Nevertheless, we had to face the problem. I decided to stop distributing “Nine Commentaries”. Hence forth, my team was getting smaller and left with only 3 persons when I distributed the last few packets of flyers on organ harvesting. My team members need a break. My two children were not doing well in their study. I had to slow down. Henceforth, I focused on postal truth clarification to China especially the remote areas in the west.
In his lecture “Be More Diligent”, Master says:“Actually, though, as a Dafa disciple, if in such cases your thoughts are righteous, and what you are thinking about is cultivation, about being responsible, and about how it’s something that should be done well, then you should quietly take whatever it is that you feel is lacking and do it well.”
After quite some time, one day, the crystal lotus flower sent by a Taiwanese practitioner enlightened me to start another project. In the pursuit of peace, prosperity and health, Malaysian Chinese worship images of ancestors, gods, buddha, demons and spirits. Consequently, lots of false buddhas and gods were created in their homes and temples. These false buddhas and gods will definitely interfere them in being saved upon understanding the truth or obtaining the Fa. Something needs to be done to reduce the interference in this respect. Owing to my early retirement, I decided to hand make 10 thousand crystal lotus flowers, wrapped up in nice-looking plastic packets to ease carriage and distribution. Solemnly, I asked for reinforcement from Master on these lotus flowers. My wife and I toured around Malaysia to spread the Fa and clarify the truth, especially at those places that we had not covered earlier, distributing flyers, Minghui Weekly and lotus flowers with a goal of imprinting the messages “Falun Dafa Is Good” and “Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance” on their minds. We reminded the recipients to hang the lotus flowers either in their cars or at the altars at home. When I performed my daily routines of sending righteous thoughts, I requested reinforcement from Master to send out Faluns from the lotus flowers to eliminate the false buddhas and gods in other dimensions. Whether it produced any result, I left it to Master.
At the 2012 International Fa Conference at U.S. Capital, Master says:
“When history is marching ahead and a path is extending forward, no one can block what the heavens have decided. During that process you should do your utmost to save more people and enable them to remain. Indeed, I tell you as Dafa disciples that you still really need to save more people, for I had arranged for this to happen: I will have the people of the future repay Dafa—that is, the people who survive—and they are going to create for Dafa an era of the greatest glory, a time of unparalleled magnificence. So that is something to be done by human beings. But what could be accomplished if only a handful of them remained? It would be so dull. (Everyone laughs, Master laughs) So we have to save more people.”
In 2013, Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH), initiated a worldwide petition to the United Nations Human Rights Commission calling for an immediate stop on forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners as well as the persecution on Falun Gong. This provides Dafa practitioners a better platform for truth clarification. Everyday people are helping us now. Hence, we should all the more participate in this petition, either on paper or online. In 2015, Asia Pacific Falun Dafa Association initiated another worldwide petition to the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China and Supreme People’s Court to call for legal action against Jiang Zemin. This makes the task of saving people through truth clarification by Dafa practitioners much easier because now we can openly and directly petition the Chinese government, gagging the mouth of those people who always like to label Falun Gong as non-patriotic to the Chinese government.
In 2014, I did the petition for DAFOH for 5 months and then continued with my postal truth clarification to China. At the 2016 Malaysian Group Fa Study Camp, I found that there wasn’t a person responsible for petition against Jiang for pan Malaysia. So, I volunteered to form and lead a small team touring around Malaysia to do truth clarification cum petition signing in the hope that more volunteers will step forward to form more teams to continue with and expand this project in saving people. Currently, I am focusing on truth clarification and DAFOH online petition to Unite Nations in Kuala Lumpur and its suburbs. I hope more practitioners can participate. At this point, I would like to take this opportunity to thank those practitioners who have been my team members in truth clarification. Thank you.
In his article, “Re-creation”, Master says: “People of the world, quickly seek the truth; The gates of heaven are already open, but not for long”.
Master is asking the people of the world to seek the truth quickly. Hence, Dafa practitioners should place the truth clarification materials at places that are easily accessible to the people such as practice sites, tourist attractions, markets, shopping malls, shops, stations, letter boxes, the Internet and so on. Do what you think is wise and rational. The gates of heaven are already open. Isn’t the goal of cultivation is to attain consummation and to return to one’s true self? Hope practitioners at this final stage of Fa-rectification can be more diligent in saving people and fulfill your prehistoric vow.
Finally, I would like to encourage ourselves with a short paragraph from Master’s lecture at the 2014 San Francisco Conference: “The beings that have come to this world, [including those that] couldn’t become human beings and became animals or plants—all of them are waiting for Dafa disciples to save them. If you don’t do well, it’s not just a matter of you yourselves not doing well—the beings that you have vowed to save will lose their chance. Your responsibility is great. The future is waiting for you, and numerous beings in the cosmos are waiting for you.”
“Cultivate as you did at the beginning, and you are sure to succeed!”
